Getting old is a challenge for both man and beast.

Charlie was not aging gracefully before Touch of Gray saved the 11-year-old pittie from possible euthanasia at Orange County Animal Services.

Charlie needed plenty of help from Touch of Gray, which focuses on rescuing and rehoming elderly dogs. Volunteers had their work cut out with Charlie.

“He was heartworm positive, had several lumps and bumps and an inguinal hernia,” said Rebecca Moore, Touch of Grey’s special events team volunteer.

“He also had extreme allergies and separation anxiety.”

After a six-month period of treatment and surgeries, Charlie was ready for a new home. But new homes were hard to find.

“Charlie came into Touch of Grey’s care on Jan. 10, 2021 and was officially adopted on Feb. 20, 2022, ”said Moore.
